Biofeedback Training/Neuro-Feedback: EEG Biofeedback is a learning strategy that enables persons to alter their brain waves, you can think of it as an exercise of the brain. Neuro-feedback reveals the context in which thinking occurs (state of arousal, vigilance and alertness). Individuals can learn to change their own brain wave and it can be thought of as an exercise for the brain. EEG Biofeedback is used for many conditions in which the brain is not working as well as it might. Ms. Klopstock utilizes EEG biofeedback as an adjunct to psychotherapy to treat sleep problems, chronic pain and mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. It may assist in reducing the stress caused by these conditions resulting in anxiety relief. Neuro-feedback does not cure emotional conditions or disorders, but it is an efficacious and evidenced based learning process.

EEG biofeedback training is a painless, non-invasive procedure. One or more sensors are placed on the scalp, and one to each ear. The brain waves are monitored by means of an amplifier and a computer-based instrument that processes the signal and provides the proper feedback. This is displayed to the patient by means of a video game. The individual is asked to make the video game go with his or her brain, and as activity in a desirable frequency band increases, the video game moves faster or some other reward is given. As activity in an adverse band increases, the video game is inhibited. Gradually, the brain responds to the cues that are being given, and learning of new brain wave patterns takes place. EEG biofeedback learning is based on the behavioral principle of operant conditioning.

Ericksonian Hypnosis (EH): Ms. Klopstock utilizes Ericksonian hypnosis as an adjunct to cognitive behavioral treatment modalities when clinically necessary. EH is a very powerful therapeutic tool that may help in the resolution of emotional problems. Unlike other types of hypnosis, EH is a permissive state of highly focused attention or trance, in which suggestion becomes far more effective than usual. The power of hypnosis resides in the patient.
